Several full-service hotels are scheduled to open in the next two years, which will bring 2,000 new guest rooms to the city. Among them are the 414-room Loews Atlanta Hotel, with 24,000 square feet of meeting space, scheduled to open 2010, and the 150-room St. Regis, with 16,800 square feet, slated to debut in 2009. Earlier this year, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis added 40,000 square feet of meeting space for a total of 160,000 square feet, and AmericasMart unveiled a new two-story, 70,000-square-foot ballroom and event space.

This past July, work began on the new 22,000-seat Louisville Arena, scheduled to open in 2010. In addition, the city?s Museum Plaza development project is under way. Plans call for a 265-room hotel, office space, a museum and condominiums. Also coming: the Louisville Loop, a 100-mile-long biking and hiking trail that will extend through the city.
