The Convention Industry Council and Meeting Professionals International have partnered to revamp the Certified Meeting Professional designation. Enhancements will include more emphasis on how meetings bring return on investment and return on objectives. MPI also is investing in the program to further roll it out to the international marketplace.

Hilton Hotels Corp. changed its name to Hilton Worldwide and unveiled a new logo. The changes follow the recent relocation of Hilton's corporate headquarters from Beverly Hills, Calif., to McLean, Va., and Hilton's regaining ownership of its international properties
in 2006.

The first Educa­tional Program for the Strategic Meetings Management Certification, offered by the National Business Travel Associ­ation, takes place this month at Emory University in Atlanta. NBTA ran a successful beta test at the association's annual convention in August.

Plans for a headquarters hotel in Portland, Ore., have been shelved indefinitely due to the economic climate.
