  • GETTHERE, The Online corporate travel reservations system, ranked the 10 most affordable cities for meetings in terms of airfare, meeting room rental, food and beverage and hotel rates. The least expensive was Jacksonville, Fla., followed by Indianapolis; Atlanta; Tucson, Ariz.; Dallas; Salt Lake City; Chicago; New Orleans; Tampa, Fla.; and Philadelphia.
  • BOB DOAK was named president of the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. He replaces Mike Wilds, who left in October for the state’s Tourism and Sports Development Corp.
  • HILTON INTERNATIONAL has teamed up with Coral Hotels & Resorts to form its first all-inclusive brand, Coral by Hilton. The partnership is being launched with the conversion of four Coral properties in the Dominican Republic.
  • THE THREAT OF WAR with Iraq will keep hotel demand down through the third quarter of 2003, said PricewaterhouseCoopers. Also, hotel room bookings were down by 44,100 in the first quarter of 2002 and by 31,300 in the second, compared with the same periods in 2001.
