The U.S. Lodging Industry's recovery has accelerated from earlier expectations, according to a December 2009 report from PKF Hospitality Research. Citing better-than-expected performance of revenue per available room, occupancy and demand in the last quarter, the report suggests that losses in 2009 and 2010 will not be as severe as anticipated.
Two Chicago-Area hotels -- the 429-room Sheraton Chicago Northwest and its CoCo Key Water Resort Arlington Heights, and the 466-room Wyndham O'Hare in Rosemont -- have closed, citing financial troubles.
