The $585 million Music City Center in downtown Nashville won final financial approval in January. Construction on the 1.2 million-square-foot center will take about three years, and 26 events already were on the books as of press time. A 1,000-room headquarters hotel also is being considered.

Resorts World Sentosa opened 1,340 guest rooms in four hotels -- the Festive Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, Crockfords Tower and Hotel Michael, designed by architect Michael Graves -- in January. The properties are on Sentosa, an island off the coast of Singapore. A casino, Singapore's first, debuts this month.

Marriott Inter­national rolled out its first GoThere Virtual Meetings studios at the New York Marriott East Side Hotel and Bethesda North Marriott Hotel near Washington, D.C., on Jan. 27. The network soon will expand to 25 hotels around the world.

San Antonio's 98-room Watermark Hotel and Spa will become the first in Omni Hotels' new luxury brand, Mokara, as of April 1.
