  • A PROLONGED CONFLICT IN IRAQ would result in the loss of more than three million industry jobs and $30 billion in economic value, predicted the London-based World Travel & Tourism Council.

  • REZIDOR SAS HOSPITALITY, parent of Radisson SAS, plans to create a hotel brand called Cerruti in partnership with the namesake Italian designer, maker of Frette linens. This new collection of stylish urban hotels will range in size from 120 to 175 guest rooms and will offer Cerruti Cafes and Enoteca wine bars. Brussels will be home to the first Cerruti hotel.

  • AMERICAN EXPRESS expanded the sales and technical-support teams of its meetings and incentives division in New York City. The firm hired three sales executives and amassed a team of five consultants to help clients choose the right travel management systems.

  • PLUGS ARE PASSÉ. The wireless craze has hit the hotel industry. Among the chains now offering wireless Internet technology are Fairmont, Hilton, InterContinental, Marriott, Omni, Sheraton, Westin and W.
