American Airlines
began daily, nonstop service between Austin, Texas, and Seattle in
April, primarily to service 150 Austin-based Microsoft employees,
who collectively fly to Seattle an average of 500 times each
year.
TheRitz-Carlton Hotel Co. is being sued by famed
Swiss spa Clinique La Prairie for trademark violation. The suit
claims the La Prairie spa at Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park,
intentionally misleads customers and has damaged the Swiss
facility’s 75-year reputation.
Global Hyatt Corp. has
launched Andaz, a new brand of upscale urban hotels planned for
London, New York and Los Angeles. The first Andaz will open in
September in London’s financial district, with the rebranding of
the existing Great Eastern Hotel.
Walt Disney World
Hotels will ban smoking as of June 1 in all guest rooms,
balconies, patios and other areas, except for designated smoking
zones. A $200 to $500 cleaning fee will be tacked onto the hotel
bill of any guest who breaks the new regulation.
