The Illinois General Assembly passed legislation last month aimed at reforming the convention business and labor practices at Chicago's McCormick Place. Among the reforms, exhibitors now will be allowed to do their own work at their booths, regardless of the size of their space, and may use power hand tools to perform the work.
Gold Leed Certification has been granted to the Virginia Beach (Va.) Convention Center, which offers 500,000 square feet of meeting space. Also, in Texas, the 2.2 million-square-foot Dallas Convention Center was awarded Silver LEED status.

ASAE's Technology Conference & Expo has been set for Dec. 13-15 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. A similar event was snowed out earlier this year.
