Jekyll Island, Ga.,
officials announced plans to break ground later this year on a $325
million development that will include a new convention center, a
400-room headquarters hotel, two smaller hotels, residential units
and an environmental conservation center.
The entertainment software
association, which paid more than $5 million in
cancellation fees last year to the Los Angeles Convention Center
after pulling its annual trade show, E3, has moved the show back to
the center for this year.
Millennium Hotels &
Resorts has launched a new luxury brand, Grand Millennium.
All properties will feature meeting space, lifestyle spas, multiple
dining venues and large atriums. The first four hotels in the brand
are in Bangkok, Thailand; Beijing; Dubai; and Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia.
Visa has partnered
with Arcaneo, a meetings technology provider, to launch the Visa
Meetings card. The card will be introduced to the European Union
later this year, followed by Asia-Pacific in 2009. Users of the
Visa Meetings card do not have to be Visa clients.
