Last month, the Asso­ciation of Destination Management Execu­tives presented its 2009 Achievement and Recognition awards at the organization's annual conference, which took place at the Westin Riv­erwalk in San Antonio.

Two individuals, Rhonda Marko, DMCP, CMP, CMM, president and CEO of Desti­na­tion Nashville, and Ilene Reinhart, DMCP, CMP, partner of Access Destination Man­agement, based in Long Beach, Calif., were named Des­tination Management Pro­fessionals of the Year, and Nicolas Nevares, CMP, of New Orleans-based BBC Desti­nation Management, was recognized as the Desti­na­tion Management Rising Star.

Among the DMCs honored for other achievements:

  • Atlanta Arrangements, for the Best Team-Building Activity;
  • Capitol Services Inc. of Washington D.C., for Best Overall Event; and
  • In the category of Most Innovative Event: metroConnections of Minneapolis (working with a budget of $50,000 or less), Destination King of Memphis ($50,001 to $100,000), PRA Destina­tion Management of Dallas/Fort Worth ($100,001 to $200,000), and Cappa and Graham of San Francis­co (a budget of $200,001 or more.)
