EGR International, a mid-sized incentive and event firm based in New York City, has purchased Gurnee, Ill.-based Sterling Meetings.
According to Ryan Bearbower, director of marketing for EGR, the move was made for several reasons, including Sterling’s physical proximity to one of EGR’s largest accounts, Abbott Laboratories.
Additionally, “the acquisition allows us to expand into other corporations based in the Midwest,” said Bearbower.
Sandie Nolan, Sterling’s CEO, will remain in the Gurnee office and will retain the title of president. The Sterling brand, however, eventually will be phased out, said Bearbower.
