Insurance Programs Still Thriving

Insurance industry planners expect to be even busier this year than last. More than a third (38.8 percent) said they will plan more meetings and incentives in 2003 than in 2002, according to a poll taken during the annual meeting of the Insurance Conference Planners Association, held in Seattle in November.

Planners in attendance cast their votes electronically via Digivote. Among other findings:

  • The average number of qualifiers runs the gamut, with 36.1 percent of respondents hosting groups of 50 to 100, and 34.3 percent planning for 200 or more.
  • More than half of the respondents (58.9 percent) organize three or fewer programs a year; 27.4 percent plan three to six annually.
  • The majority of planners (53.8 percent) have average daily room rate budgets of $150 to $250, while 39.5 percent spend $250 to $350.
  • Most firms (64.5 percent) hold their incentives between April and June.
  • More than half (56.4 percent) of programs sponsored by insurance companies run five days/four nights.
