event-tech giant Cvent named the top meeting destinations in multiple regions: the top 50 in the United States; the top 25 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and the top 25 in the Asia Pacific region. The rankings are based on booking activity on the Cvent Supplier Network from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2015.
The top five U.S. cities in 2015 were Orlando, Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlanta and San Diego. The EMEA region's top spots were London; Barcelona, Spain; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Paris, and Berlin. In Asia Pacific, the top cities were Singapore; Sydney, Australia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Hong Kong.
The U.S. was the top country for large association conventions last year, according to the International Congress and Convention Association. The rest of the top 10 in order were Germany, the U.K., Spain, France, Italy, Japan, China, Netherlands and Canada. In ICCA's city rankings, Berlin took the top spot, knocking Paris, 2014's best, to second place. Berlin was previously ranked number 4. The other top-10 cities in order were Barcelona; Vienna, Austria; London; Madrid, Spain; Singapore; Istanbul, Turkey; Lisbon, Portugal; and Copenhagen, Denmark.
ICCA's rankings are based on the number of association meetings taking place on a regular basis and rotating between a minimum of three countries. For 2015, ICCA captured data from a record 12,076 such events.
