The Miami-based Global Wellness Institute released a new Global Wellness Tourism Economy report at the World Travel Market in London in November. Among key findings: Wellness tourism around the globe grew from a US$563 billion market in 2015 to $639 billion in 2017, a rate of 6.5 percent annually, more than twice as fast as tourism overall (a 3.2 percent annual growth). The sector is forecast to grow even faster through 2022, by 7.5 percent yearly, to reach $919 billion. North America topped the list in wellness-tourism revenues ($242 billion yearly), while Europe welcomed the most wellness trips (292 million). Below is the growth in such trips worldwide.
