While Washington, DC's cherished monuments are symbols of history, the city is looking squarely into the future with $8.5 billion in developments currently underway.
Meeting planners have a lot to look forward to this month, when the Washington Marriott Marquis opens its doors. The 1,175-room hotel will become the first to connect directly to the adjacent Walter E. Washington Convention Center. It also will possess 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, some of which has already been scheduled for future events.

CityCenterDC, a 2.5-million square-foot neighborhood development under construction in the heart of Downtown, has opened its first phase. When completed, the space will span 10 acres and include a luxury hotel, numerous restaurants, retail outlets, residential units and public spaces. Other properties, like Marriott, Hilton, Kimpton, Fairmont and Four Seasons among others, have recently completed renovations to hotel rooms, meeting spaces and restaurants worth $250 million.
