A proven way to generate ideation is collaborative brainstorming. While holding great potential for unlocking inspiration, brainstorming sessions don't always result in creative gold mines. That's why it's critical to set your session up for success by creating an environment that encourages participation and out-of-the-box thinking. Below are four tips on how to create an inspiring brainstorm environment within your organizations:

Set Ground Rules- Start your session by outlining goals for the day and how you plan to achieve them.

Give Ideas Room to Grow- How often have you been in a brainstorming session where half the group did not participate? For sessions to be successful, you have to create a safe environment where new ideas are protected so they can develop.

Encourage Questions- One of the keys to a successful brainstorming session is encouraging participants to ask questions.

Have Fun!- If you want to inspire out-of-the-box thinking, you have to get people out of their comfort zones. Kick-off your sessions with a fun, ice breaker activity. Or if it's a creative session, allow participants to wear casual dress.
