Filling events to capacity through exciting destinations has always been the meeting planner's pinnacle of success. Many have been achieving that in recent months by booking space in Atlantic City - yes, the New Jersey resort town that's surging in popularity.

The seaside location is dramatically transforming from gaming town to year-round meetings hot spot. According to Meet AC, the organization promoting Atlantic City's meeting and convention industry, the city realized record bookings last year - with nearly 290,000 room night reservations for 260 events.

"We have seen demand increase where we now have more business on the books than we have ever had in Meet AC's history," notes Jim Wood, the organization's president and CEO.

Destination is key. In a 2015 study, 82% of respondents said their decision to attend depended on location. Three quarters expected to get "out and about" during their stay, and roughly half noted they would extend their stay and/or bring others with them.

Conference organizers are flocking to Atlantic City because it promises participants more than just state-of-the-art meeting spaces. Guests are satisfying their adrenaline rush through gambling and dance-heavy nightclubs. They're rejuvenating through luxurious spa experiences and bringing family members for musical, comedy and magic entertainment. They're enjoying golf, boardwalk strolls, water activities, and resort boutique and designer outlet shopping.

Borgata bolsters Atlantic City transformation

This year, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa looks forward to the completion of its Central Conference Center - the 18,000-square-foot centerpiece of its meetings and convention program.

"As the region's market-leading resort destination, we recognize the importance of our meetings and conventions customers," says Mark Vanderwielen, Borgata's Vice President of Hotel & Property Operations. "We are delighted to offer them a level of service unmatched anywhere in the city."

Considered THE place to be for the East Coast's upscale crowd, the 2,800-room resort is commanding the meetings stage through three unique venues: The Event Center, The Water Club and Central Conference Center. These innovative, customizable spaces include meeting rooms, boardrooms, offices and ballrooms totaling 106,000 square feet.

Outside of business, Borgata guests have plenty to do under one roof. They can indulge in a sophisticated, theatrical experience at the new Premier Nightclub, where top-name DJs, cutting-edge sound/light systems and VIP service draw stellar crowds. They can pamper themselves with restorative spa services at Immersion, with floor-to-ceiling water views and 16 specialty service rooms, and Spa Toccare, complete with palm tree-laden pool and gardens. They can relish fine dining at its highest levels - especially with the spring debut of Italian restaurant Angeline by Michael Symon, who joins acclaimed chefs Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Geoffrey Zakarian and Michael Schulson as part of Borgata's world-renowned culinary roster.

With all this plus 17 retail boutiques, 161,000 square feet of gaming, 10 casual dining options, seven indoor and outdoor pools, and world-class entertainment, Borgata's offerings underscore Atlantic City's commitment to presenting meeting guests with a truly unparalleled experience.
