Grand Hotel & Spa Rodina

Winter 2014. In the “Russian Riviera” resort town of Sochi, the 40-room Grand Hotel & Spa Rodina, a Kiwi Collection property, has a stunning natural environment, from the snowy peaks of the Caucasus Mountains (where the Olympic action will take place) down to the Black Sea’s sandy shores.

41 hotel

Summer 2012. Part of the Red Carnation Collection, London’s mod but very English (note the high-backed leather chairs and lobby fireplace) 41 hotel is across from Buckingham Palace, with 30 unique rooms united by a stylish black-and-white theme.

Moda Hotel

Winter 2010. Vancouver’s crisp, 57-room Moda Hotel expertly blends past and present. The place opened a century ago as the Dufferin Hotel and sports terrazzo floors and 200-year-old Douglas fir beams. Its modern incarnation has added flat-screen TVs, VoIP telephones and high-speed Internet access.

Commune by the Great Wall Kempinski

Summer 2008. Opened in 2002, Beijing’s Commune by the Great Wall Kempinski does triple-duty as a serene 42-villa retreat, an architectural museum (it was designed by 12 forward-thinking Asian architects) and a front porch for the Great Wall of China, of which each villa has breathtaking views.
