M&C August 2002 coverWhen Steve Goodman appeared on M&C’s cover five years ago this month, he was managing director of his own company, Atlanta-based Jackson Marketing Group, and grappling with clients planning time-crunched meetings.

Since then, he sold that business to Oak Brook, Ill.-based Conferon (now Experient), got married, built a house and founded another business, MeetingAdvice (, also based in Atlanta, which helps hotels strategically design their internal meetings. “It was a market no one was going after,” Goodman says. MeetingAdvice, which has grown to eight full-time employees, also works with Fortune 500 companies in consolidating and developing internal meeting teams and best operational practices.

Goodman also spends time with individual hotel clients in the United States and abroad, training new sales hires on the complexities of the group market.

Reflecting on the past five years, Goodman notes, “Our business has become more professional and polished on both sides.”
