Let’s get straight to the point: Drifting off-topic was the number-one pet meeting peeve cited in a survey of about 1,000 planners. The complete list:

  1. Drifting off the topic
  2. Lack of meeting structure
  3. Lack of daylight in meeting room
  4. Meeting at a regular weekly time, regardless of a need to do so
  5. Someone repeatedly making the same point
  6. Running overtime
  7. Having to attend a meeting regardless of whether it is personally relevant
  8. Interruptions from cell phones or pagers
  9. Lack of refreshments
10. Cynics who criticize but never offer anything of value in return
