Attendees who long ago tossed aside dreams of spinning turntables in front of  legions of appreciative dancers can finally see what they have been missing. The Scratch DJ Academy in New York City (212-529-1599; will dispatch deejay instructors, many of them celebrities in their own right, to private events anywhere in New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
Potential spinners get hands-on instruction at stations set up with multiple turntables. As a bonus, learners can take home a custom CD of all the thumps, blips and squeaks they created in class.
