Westin Hotels & Resorts is partnering with Reebok to help the hotel chain pump up its fitness facilities. WestinWORKOUT Powered by Reebok launched in November a $10 million redesign of Westin’s gyms in North America. The company is hoping to raise heart levels with new cardio and weight equipment, aerobic zones, customized workouts and vitalizing amenities.
The chain initiated its health kick at properties in New York City, Philadelphia and Seattle. By the end of this year, 77 Westin hotels will feature upgraded facilities.
Why is Westin so intent on shaping up? A recent survey found 64 percent of business travelers are unhappy with typical hotel gyms. More than half decided to forgo exercise to avoid using  shabby facilities.
