Short Cuts:

Forget beach Frisbee games. Groups at the Westin Resort, St. John can play amateur archaeologists for a day at the nearby excavation in Cinnamon Bay. Artifacts unearthed at the ongoing dig include pottery, beads, shells and stone carvings created by the island’s indigenous Taino people. The site is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and training is provided for volunteers. (340) 693-8000;
