Bringing the concept of a portable picture-phone closer to reality, Sony Electronics, based in Park Ridge, N.J., has introduced a micronotebook with a built-in digital camera. The VAIO C1X PictureBook is slim (1.5 inches thick), light (2.5 pounds) and fast (packing a 266-MHZ Pentium processor). The camera enables the user to easily capture, edit and send both still and motion pictures. The VAIO C1X Picturebook comes with Windows 98, 64 MB of SDRAM (expandable to 128 MB) and a 4.3-GB hard drive; a CD-ROM drive is optional. The computer costs $2,299. For more information, contact Sony at (888) 315-SONY or visit the Sony Electronics Web site: (www.sel.sony.com).
