What would help the meetings industry recover?

"For me, as a meeting planner, it would be for all hotels to eliminate sleeping room attrition clauses from their contracts."

Kathy Rodriguez
Events Planner
Project Management Institute
Newtown Square, Pa.

"Companies should be paying attention to negative indicators that have resulted from not having had meetings or incentives. Are they losing their top people? Are their sales off dramatically as a result of not launching new products or technologies through face-to-face meetings? How are they measuring these perceived or real losses?"

Kate McCaw
Director of Meetings & Incentives
Patriot Meetings and Management
Summerville, S.C.

"I would love to see the economic impact of meetings on a state-by-state basis. If we could get the figures on how much revenue meetings bring to each state, not to mention residual spending in restaurants and retail establishments, and how many jobs are provided by the hospitality industry domestically, I think this would really open some eyes on Capitol Hill."
