In an effort to address strategies outlined in its recent Futures Study, Destination Marketing Association International has established committees on advocacy, technology and social responsibility within destination marketing organizations. The advocacy committee will look for partnerships and resources to communicate the value of DMOs using tools such as economic impact studies of hotel taxes and other case studies; the technology group will find intuitive technological solutions for DMOs to enhance customer attention, through the use of platforms such as mobile marketing and social media; and the social responsibility committee will focus on incorporating sustainable economic development into travel experiences. The committees' work will be funded by $4 million raised by DMAI's recent Destination Excellence campaign.
