As of July 1, Green Meeting Industry Council founders Amy Spatrisano and Nancy Wilson have retired from the board. The organization, which is dedicated to sustainability in the meetings and events industry, now is led by board president Guy Bigwood, group sustainability director of the MCI Group. Paul Salinger, vice president of marketing for Oracle, is the president-elect. The GMIC, which currently has 500 members, has grown by 300 percent in the last two years and has been instrumental in helping the Convention Industry Council develop the APEX Green Meeting Standards that are expected to be published next month.
