NBTA, the National Business Travel Association, will change its name in 2011 to GBTA, the Global Business Travel Association, to better reflect its mission and membership base. The association has expanded its reach internationally with a large push in Europe, where it has a dedicated staff and will hold the first NBTA Europe conference next month, Sept. 6-8, in Lisbon, Portugal. In other news from the conference:
•  Michael W. Lyons, CCTE, vice president, corporate events and travel services at HSBC, was honored with the NBTA President’s Award, which is presented each year to a direct member (travel/meetings buyer) who has demonstrated steadfast dedication to NBTA and the managed travel industry as a whole.
   • Jack O’Neill, President, Carlson Wagonlit Travel North America, was named the NBTA Allied Member of the Year Award, which recognizes the allied (supplier) member who demonstrates unwavering dedication to the travel management industry and whose actions have significantly helped to advance the industry.
