Maritz Travel president and CEO Christine Duffy is leaving the company to accept a position as president of Cruise Lines International Association, effective Feb. 1, 2011, the company announced today. Beginning Jan. 1, 2011, Maritz Travel’s chief operating officer, Jane Herod, will serve as interim president of the company.

Duffy will remain an executive adviser to Maritz Travel. Duffy joined Maritz Travel in 2001, when Maritz acquired her company, McGettigan Partners. As president and CEO of Maritz, Duffy and her team built the company’s strategic meetings management business and meetings effectiveness solutions, while strengthening the connection between business goals and incentive travel programs.

“Christine is a true leader in the travel industry, and has helped Maritz Travel and the entire travel industry weather tough economic times during the last decade,” said Steve Maritz, the company’s chairman and CEO.  “We’re a people company with a family atmosphere, so it’s tough to say goodbye. However, everyone at Maritz wishes her the best, and we’re grateful for her years of service.”
