The bimonthly Business Barometer for December 2010 from Meeting Professionals International shows 23 percent of the senior meeting professionals surveyed are hiring full-time employees, 22 percent are increasing their part-time teams and 28 percent are hiring more contractors. Among the more than 300 people surveyed, 60 percent were planners and 40 percent suppliers. Compared with a year ago, 51 percent are seeing the greatest increase in domestic corporate meetings, 22 percent are seeing jumps in association events and 10 percent each are experiencing the largest increases in international association and international corporate meetings. The report also shows a slight 1 percent growth in budgets compared with the October 2010 Barometer, the first time in more than six months that budgets have grown.
