On Thursday the National Business Travel Association officially changed its name to the Global Business Travel Association, a move first announced at the group's annual convention last August. Responding to research among its membership, the association also announced a number of planned changes, including: more international networking and educational events, many of which will be free to members; free registration for members to all GBTA webcasts; new and improved resources, such as global benchmarking tools; enhanced online collaboration and information sharing; a more global committee network, and continued expansion of the GBTA to include representation in additional major business-travel markets. A more robust website also is in the works, according to the group.
