Meeting Professionals International has announced that it has reconfigured its 2011 World Education Congress , which takes place July 23-26 in Orlando. Most notably, the traditional trade show featuring exhibitors from destinations, hotel companies, meeting services firms and promotional companies has been eliminated. A hosted-buyer program has been added, where prequalified planners will meet with suppliers one-on-one. "Buyer Connect" is an option to help those who cannot participate in the hosted-buyer program to schedule appointments with those suppliers. Also new is the Blitz!, an entertainment and interactive event; and MarketSquare, centrally placed in the Orlando Convention Center, where planners and suppliers may mix. FlashPoint will showcase 10 speakers giving condensed versions of their presentations, and technological innovations will be the focus of the Hive. The WEC also will feature more than 100 educational sessions; online voting will help shape some of those topics. For more information, go here.
