Nara HotelJapan has a few all-wooden hotels, and the city of Nara’s 129-room Nara Hotel, built nearly a century ago, is the oldest. Luminaries from Chaplin to Brando have stayed in this quaint enclave, where some rooms are Western-style and some are in the manner of a traditional Japanese inn, or ryokan.
