Construction has begun on a new hotel in Menlo Park, Calif., according to developers Ensemble Real Estate Investments and AECOM Capital. The new property will be Silicon Valley's first new-construction luxury lifestyle hotel "in decades."
Part of a 16-acre project known as Menlo Gateway -- which will include the hotel, three office buildings, a fitness facility and outdoor amenities -- the currently unnamed hotel will be part of Marriott's Autograph Collection and will be built to achieve LEED Silver certification.
The hotel, which will open in late 2017, will have 250 guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling views of San Francisco Bay and the surrounding foothills, a zero-edge pool and spa with cabanas and fire pits, a three-meal restaurant helmed by a local celebrity chef, a fitness center, and a Marriott Rewards lounge. The 20,000 square feet of meeting space will include a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, an executive boardroom with a terrace and a 3,000-square-foot event lawn.
"Our goal is to create a boldly original facility that honors the unique ethos and innovative spirit of Silicon Valley -- a place that will be a neighborhood after-hours retreat for locals, and a must-stay destination for taste-making travelers and corporate leaders," said Brian Ehrlich, CEO of Ensemble Real Estate Investments.
