Local Update

 Brooklyn welcomed the 110-room La Quinta Inn & Suites Brooklyn Central near Barclays Center last month. Facilities on the property include meeting and conference rooms, a lounge, a recreation center and off-street parking. The property also offers complimentary WiFi and noteworthy views of the Manhattan skyline.
 
 In May, Hotel 50 Bowery NYC, a Joie de Vivre hotel, debuted in Chinatown with 229 guest rooms. This boutique hotel features a number of event spaces, including The Gallery, a 1,478-square-foot area curated by the Museum of Chinese in America, and an outdoor terrace spanning  5,018 square feet.

 In the Bronx, an 84-room Comfort Inn & Suites opened in May near Yankee Stadium. The hotel provides two event spaces -- the 336-square-foot Mets Meeting Room and the 476-square-foot Yankees Meeting Room.
 
 In a building that once housed Life magazine, the 98-room Life Hotel opened in April in Manhattan's trendy NoMad neighborhood. The property features a chef's rooftop restaurant and a basement speakeasy and cocktail bar that can hold up to 60 people for events.

 Hyatt's new extended-stay brand added a new hotel to Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood in April. The 150-room Hyatt House New York/Chelsea offers apartment-style suits on 30 floors with floor-to-ceiling windows.

 The 130-room LUMA Hotel Times Square came online in March. The 26-story building is less than a block from Bryant Park and features a Basque-inspired restaurant as well as a tapas and cocktail bar.

 In Queens, the 150-room Wyndham Garden Hotel Fresh Meadows debuted in March. The Wyndham property has 2,000 square feet of meeting space and can accommodate 77 conference guests or 62 banquet guests.

 London-based Firmdale Hotels opened its second property in the Big Apple in February, the 86-room Whitby Hotel. Features include three private rooms for small events and a screening theater that can accommodate up to 130 people.

 The 192-room 1 Hotel at Brooklyn Bridge Park debuted in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood in February. The eco-luxury property is a joint venture from Starwood Capital and Toll Brothers City Living and offers views of the East River.

 Between West 34th and 35th streets, the 148-room Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan Midtown West opened in February. Designed by Ariel Aufgang, the new property is near the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

 In February, the 612-room DoubleTree by Hilton New York--Times Square West opened near the Broadway Theater District. The hotel includes a rooftop bar, a signature restaurant, a fitness center and a 1,000-square-foot conference room that can accommodate up to 15 people.

 The 70-room Hotel RL by Red Lion Brooklyn, which opened in January, includes a downstairs screening room, a game room and a fleet of bicycles available for guests.
