Last Friday, business-class airline Silverjet suspended operations. In a press release, the London-based carrier cited a lack of capital from its financial backer. No future reservations will be honored. Passengers should seek refunds from their credit card companies or travel agents.

British Airways has increased its fuel surcharge for flights originating within the U.K.; surcharges for markets other than the U.K. will be increased "by similar levels." The new fees for short-haul flights were increased from £26 to £32 ($51 to $62), for long-haul flights of less than nine hours from £126 to £156 ($247 to $306) and for long-haul flights of more than nine hours from £158 to £218 ($310 to $428).
