Valley Forge Entertainment Center -- the food and entertainment wing of Pennsylvania's Valley Forge Convention Center -- recently applied for a 500-slot resort casino license. The first public hearing on the request was held May 20, and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is expected to make a decision later this year. The investment group behind the proposal, Valley Forge Convention Center Partners L.P., seeks to build an on-site resort hotel casino, 15,000 square feet of which would be devoted to the gaming area. Under the stipulations of the license sought, the hotel would offer at least 275 rooms. Only two such licenses remain available from the PGCB. The Valley Forge Convention Center is 20 minutes from downtown Philadelphia and five minutes from the King of Prussia mall.
