The $100 million, 48-room Nikki Beach Resort, which includes a Nikki Beach Club, a VIP Ultra Lounge and a large-yacht marina, will have its grand opening in Providenciales, in the Turks and Caicos Islands, on April 5. A second phase of construction, set to open in 2010, will add an undetermined amount of meeting space, a separate 110-room resort, a casino and a spa.

The 260-room Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Westside in Culver City, Calif., three miles from Los Angeles International Airport, reopened today following a $35 million renovation. The property, formerly the Los Angeles International Airport Plaza Hotel, has been closed since October 2006 and now offers a business library equipped with private workstations, a 24-hour convenience store, the Courtyard Cafe restaurant, a heated outdoor pool, a patio bar, a fitness area and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

The 334-room Gansevoort South in Miami opened last week. However, the property's STK steak house and 42,000 square-foot David Barton Gym & Spa will not open until the summer or fall, according to the Miami Herald. A spokesperson for the hotel was unavailable when contacted for confirmation. The hotel features a 22,000 square-foot rooftop pool, bar and lounge.

A 270-room Residence Inn and a 253-room SpringHill Suites opened last week in Chicago in a single, 27-story hotel tower near Michigan Avenue, one block north of the Chicago River. Each hotel has a separate entrance. Known as the Residence Inn and SpringHill Suites Downtown River North, the double property does not have meeting space.

The 295-room Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza was acquired last week by Noble Investment Group, which will begin an $8.8 million renovation later this year. Four miles south of downtown Kansas City, Mo., the hotel has 16,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 42-seat amphitheater.

The 131-room Morgans Hotel in New York City will close temporarily on May 18 to undergo a $9 million renovation, according to Morgans Hotel Group. It will reopen in September. Changes include lobby, guest room and penthouse refurbishments, plus the addition of a business center. The hotel restaurant, Asia de Cuba, will remain operational during the project. Guests who have confirmed reservations at Morgans while the hotel is closed may stay at the company's other New York City properties, the 168-room Royalton and the 816-room Hudson.

The 190-room Europe Hotel & Resort, Killarney, Ireland, has reopened following a $120 million renovation. The project included refurbishment of all public areas and nine meeting rooms. A 50,000-square-foot ESPA spa with 17 treatment rooms will be completed in June.

Italy's 370-room Rome Cavalieri Hilton has joined Hilton Hotels Corp.'s Warldorf=Astoria Collection, its luxury brand. In light of the move, the property will be rebranded as Rome Cavalieri, The Warldorf=Astoria Collection. It is the first of Hilton's European hotels to join the group and the sixth overall.

Singapore's government-owned real estate investment company has created a US$600 million joint venture with Host Hotels & Resorts that will seek hospitality investment opportunities throughout Asia and Australia. "We believe that the joint venture is well positioned to build up a substantial portfolio of hospitality-related assets in Asia," said Dr. Seek Ngee Huat, president of the Government of Singapore Investment Corp., in a statement. Host Hotels owns 119 properties with a combined 64,000 rooms.
