Gary Stein, the conservator appointed by the New Jersey Casino
Control Commission to oversee the Tropicana Hotel Casino Atlantic
City, announced that he has received "multiple expressions of
interest" from parties who wish to buy the resort. He previously
had set a deadline of March 17 for receiving such responses. Stein
was appointed conservator in December 2007, when the Casino Control
Commission refused to renew the Tropicana's license. Tropicana's
owners have since filed an appeal to that decision.
