Now that the all-business-class MAXJet Airways has ceased operations, British Airways has announced it will begin twice-daily, business-class-only flights from London City Airport to New York City in 2009. The flights will be on Airbus A318 airplanes, with a maximum capacity of 32 passengers; which New York-area airport the flights will run from has not been determined. These routes will be in addition to BA's eight daily flights from Heathrow Airport to New York City's JFK Airport and its three daily flights from Heathrow to Newark Liberty International in New Jersey.

Several news sources have reported that a massive, 24-hour strike is halting flights and public transportation in Greece today. A number of unions are protesting the government's social security reform measures. As a result, all domestic and international flights at all airports have been canceled from midnight Tuesday through midnight today. At Athens International Airport alone, 443 flights were canceled.
