PKF Hospitality Research has released a study of meeting planners' expectations for 2008. Among the highlights: Slightly more than 50 percent said they expect to plan the same number of events as they did in 2007; 40 percent expect to plan more. Sixty percent reported flat attendance in 2007, while 30 percent reported increased attendance. Roughly half of respondents said attrition clauses in contracts affected their site-selection process, down from 57 percent in 2006. Of the 121 planners surveyed, approximately 38 percent were association, 20 percent were corporate, 14 percent were independent, 12 percent were nonprofit or government, and 16 percent identified themselves as "other."
