Jim Atchison has stepped down as incoming chairman of the Orlando/Orange County CVB. According to a statement from Gary C. Sain, president and CEO of the CVB, Atchison recently became president and COO of Busch Entertainment. The term of the current chairman, Mark McHugh, president and CEO of Gatorland, has been extended for another year.

NYC & Company, New York City's marketing and tourism organization, has opened its first office in Canada, the city's second-largest international market. The new office in Toronto is the ninth opened by the CVB this year, bringing the total of international offices to 16. The expansion into international markets supports New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's plan to attract 50 million visitors a year to the city by 2015.

Steve Richer, the retiring executive director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau, has accepted a public affairs consulting position with the National Tour Association, which acts as a national voice for the travel and tourism industry. Richer will work with Jim Santini, a former Nevada congressman and currently NTA's legislative counsel, in Washington, D.C.
