The Georgia World Congress Center Authority in Atlanta will invest $20.5 million to renovate the Georgia Dome. The interior and exterior will be painted red and black, in honor of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, and 61,000 of the total 71,250 stadium seats will be replaced; all bathrooms and lighting will be updated as well. The work will be completed by the middle of next year. The GWCC also has introduced BAGS, a remote check-in, skycap baggage service that allows visitors to check in themselves and their luggage at the GWCC's lobby on the last day of a convention.

A convention center with more than 370,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space opened this week at one of the world's largest malls, in Pasay City, Philippines, on Manila Bay. The US$41 million SMX Convention Center has a 98,000-square-foot exhibit hall, and the Mall of Asia complex is preparing to open two hotels in the next two years with a combined total of 500 or 550 rooms, one of which will be a Microtel Inn and Suites. The master plan for the complex also includes a 16,000-seat sports arena, offices and a commercial ferry terminal.
