The Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions launched two new websites last week,, an interactive Web 2.0 site, and, the first real estate established by a national tourism board within Second Life, the online virtual community generated by user content. Beyond offering the usual tourism information, the NBTC's new U.S. site allows registered users to share Holland experiences, contribute articles, rate information on the site, print "brochures" of information gathered on the site, and more. The Second Life presence features "New Holland," an island where users can interact within a 3-D setting designed to simulate the city of Amsterdam.
