Officials at the Georgia World Congress Center are considering expanding the facility. A study being conducted will answer whether a new stadium or expansion of the Georgia Dome is needed, as well as what the needs will be of the center eight to 10 years from now. Currently, the GWCC consists of the 71,250-seat Georgia Dome, the 1.4 million-square-foot convention center and Centennial Olympic Park. The GWCC Authority has approved $500,000 for development of the plan. The GWCC last was expanded in 2003.
