Rose Hall, in Montego Bay, Jamaica’s “second city” and home to such popular all-inclusive resorts as Sandals and Breezes, will be the site of new, $51.67 million convention center. According to the Jamaica Tourist Board, the project, which will be set on 23 acres and offer more than 215,000 square feet of meeting space, will be financed by the Jamaican government and the Ex-Im Bank of China. The center is scheduled to open in December 2008.

The new $5.2 million Vidalia Conference and Convention Center, in Vidalia, La., across the Mississippi River from Natchez, Miss., hosted its first conference, the Miss-Lou Regional Tourism Summit, last week. Six hundred were in attendance at the 26,000-square-foot facility, which is set to complete its second, 11,000-square-foot phase of construction in March 2008.
