The Professional Convention Management Association has hired Christine Melendes as its new member-relations director, responsible for attracting and retaining members. She comes to the organization from the Women's Foodservice Forum. In other news, PCMA has contributed $25,000 to the Discover America Partnership, whose goal is to strengthen the image of the United States around the world.

Five people have been added to the board of the Green Meetings Industry Council, which was launched at the beginning of the year by Amy Spatrisano, CMP, and Nancy Wilson, CMP, of Portland, Ore.-based Meeting Strategies Worldwide. The new board members are Guy Bigwood, group CSR director and general manager for Spain, MCI; Lynne Forsman, partner, Nautical Destinations; Dale Hudson, projects manager for IMEX; Jan Sneegas, general assembly manager for the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations; and Michelle White, director of environmental affairs for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. The four returning board members are Suzanne Burnes of the pollution prevention assistance division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources; Kitty Ratcliffe, president of the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission; and founders Amy Spatrisano and Nancy Wilson.
