According to the Columbus
Dispatch, the venue management firm SMG is suing Robert E.
Newman, who resigned unexpectedly on Jan. 31 as SMG's senior
regional vice president in charge of the Greater Columbus (Ohio)
Convention Center. The newspaper reported Newman has plans to take
a position at AEG, an SMG competitor, and the lawsuit charges
Newman with breach of contract, fraud and appropriation of trade
secrets. While the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority
searches for a replacement, Bob McClintock, an SMG senior regional
vice president, will oversee the convention center. Representatives
from the convention center, the local convention center facilities
authority and SMG did not return phone calls seeking comment.
