The Hotel de Rome, a Rocco Forte Hotel, opens in Berlin Oct. 1. The 146-room property -- near the Brandenburg Gate, the Deutsche Staatsoper opera house and Humboldt University -- formerly served as the Central Bank of the German Democratic Republic. The hotel has five conference rooms, a ballroom, a fitness center and a spa.

Hilton Hotels Corp. is returning to Colombia. The $27 million Hilton Bogota will open in mid-2009 in the country's capital with 245 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Hilton left Colombia in the late 1980s.

Sage Hospitality Resources, which manages the JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek, has purchased the 196-room hotel in a joint venture with JP Morgan. The property offers 8,000 square feet of meeting space and the 9,300-square-foot Spa at Cherry Creek.

The Seibu Group of Japan is selling the Makena Resort on Maui, which includes the 310-room Maui Prince Hotel, two 18-hole golf courses and land zoned for development, for an unlisted price. The Maui Prince has more than 20,000 square feet of indoor meeting space.   

The Palms, a 72-room luxury resort in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, will be managed by Regent International Hotels, beginning in early 2007. In the coming year, Regent is opening U.S. hotels in Boston and South Beach and Bal Harbour, Fla.
