The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education has announced a sweeping change to the way CME providers must operate. New criteria for accreditation will ask providers to work on improvements constantly, by trying new educational approaches, helping physicians overcome educational barriers and partnering with other organizations. The first wave of providers up for reaccreditation under the new system will be expected to change by late 2008; more information will be made available throughout the coming year.
